18 more contract officials sacked

LAHORE, April 28: The Punjab government on Thursday sacked 18 more contract or re-employed officials found to have been hired in violation of rules.

The action has been taken in the light of a Supreme Court direction.

The officials are Lt-Col Sajidul Bari Cheema, additional director and Maj Azhar Husain (retired) , deputy director (operations) (Home Department), Abdul Ghafoor Malik and Syed Ashfaq Ahmad (Literacy and Non-formal Basic Education Department), Sheikh Farooq Ahmad, adviser Projects and Planning, and Muhammad Iqbal, assistant manager (Tevta), Rab Nawaz, consultant (technical) (Finance Department), S Mehdi Hasan, comptroller, Punjab House, Karachi (C&W Department), Sher Zaheer Ahmad, member (judicial), Sakhi Muhammad Kahut, member (judicial), Abdul Khaliq Khan, member police, Nasir Javed Basra, member revenue (SIU, Anti-Corruption Establishment Headquarters) and Qari Ahmad Khan Barvi, Khosh Navees, Chief Minister`s Secretariat (S&GA Department) and Muhammad Hafeez, junior statistician, Mahar Akbar Ali assistant director, Punjab Seed Corporation, Arif Khan, documentation officer, Punjab Seed Corporation, Muhammad Ayub, photographer, PSC and Ferzand Ali Dogar, assistant, PSC (Agriculture Department). — Staff Reporter
