Zaheeruddin resigns as opposition leader in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin resigned from his position on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

Chaudhry Zaheeruddin had voluntarily offered to resign after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ministers were removed from the provincial cabinet. He submitted his resignation to Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Iqbal on Wednesday.

Moreover, the PPP submitted an application to Rana Iqbal for the designation of party leader Raja Riaz as leader of the opposition. The PPP also submitted an application to the speaker for the allotment of opposition seats to its members.
