Five auto thieves held in Karak

KARAK, May 2: Karak police have arrested five auto thieves and recovered a lifted vehicle from them.

Police sources said on Monday that on tip-off the Karak and Bannu police jointly raided a house in the limits of Ghuriwala police station and arrested five car-lifters identified as Ghani Khan of Paindakhel, Lakki, Gul Baz Khan of Machankhel Lakki, Faridullah of Ghuriwala, Shahidullah of Ameenkhel Ghuriwala and Aminullah of Babelkhel Karak.

Police also recovered a car from them, which was booked by them from Takht Nusrati taxi stand a few days back and later they threw the driver, Sajid Rehman, from it and took the vehicle away. FIR was registered against the car-lifters in Takht Nusrati police station.

HEALTH INSURANCE: Thousands of micro health insurance cards were distributed among the poor residents of six union councils under Bacha Khan Poverty Alleviation Programme. The insurance cards holders would enjoy free of cost health facilities. This was informed by the district programme manager of Sarhad Rural Support Programme, Yousaf Khan Khattak, while speaking on the occasion of the cards distribution ceremony held at Mithakhel on Monday. He said the residents had been selected on the basis of poverty after a survey.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead and another was seriously injured over an old enmity on Monday in the jurisdiction of Banda Daud Shah police station.

Police said Noor Shah Jan, resident of Faqeeri Banda, was working in the fields along with his wife and son that their rivals came there and opened fire over them. Mr Jan was killed on the spot while a man, Asghar, who was passing by the area, also got seriously injured in the fire.

The wife and son of Noor Jan ran way from the scene and saved their lives. The relatives of the slain registered FIR in Banda Daud Shah police station against Mohammad Naseer and Noor Mohammad. —Correspondent
