Mukhtar sees threat to Punjab government

GUJRAT, April 30: The proposed alliance between the PPP and the PML-Q will be a permanent danger for the Punjab government as the number game in the provincial assembly will tilt in favour of the PPP in case the Unification Bloc stopped supporting the PML-N, defence minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar says.

Talking to reporters at his office here on Saturday, Mukhtar said that people would grasp the significance of the PPP-PML-Q alliance with the passage of time.

"Both the parties have shared their programmes with each other and `give-and-take` policy will be adopted in case of any difficulty during the partnership," Mukhtar said and added that party workers of his constituency had approved the PPP co-chairperson`s decision to form an alliance with the PML-Q.

He said that he would contest the next elections for the National Assembly from his constituency, instead of accepting a Senate seat, while being loyal to his party. He said the appointment of Pervaiz Elahi as deputy prime minister would not affect his politics. Earlier, Mukhtar took into confidence a group of his staunch supporters and party workers over the recent political developments.
