ATTOCK, May 1: The Executive District Officers (EDOs) of Literacy and Revenue departments have relinquished their respective duties and returned the official vehicles after the posts were abolished by the Punjab government, it has been learnt. The EDO Literacy Sardar Amir Iqbal was asked by the Punjab government to report to the Services and General Administration (S&GAD) till further order, while EDO Revenue Aamal Shah was transferred to any other district, sources said. The affairs of the Literacy Department would be looked after by the EDO Education while all the revenue appeals would now proceed at the Commissioner Office, Rawalpindi. Moreover, Deputy District Officers Revenue (DDORs) of all the six tehsils have been re-designated as Assistant Commissioners (ACs) while the district coordination officer will act as district collector. It is also expected that the magistracy powers could be delegated to the ACs as was the prac tice in the past. The magistracy powers to the assistant commissioners were abolished in the regime of Gen Pervez Musharraf under the LFO, sources added. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has transferred District Officer (DO) Finance and Budget Ikramullah Khan Niazi and appointed him as Additional Commissioner (Revenue), Rawalpindi division. |
