Detective police on prowl

ISLAMABAD, May 1: The capital police have deployed detective foot constables (DFC) in the city zone to collect intelligence and keep an eye on suspicious activities, it has been learnt.

These DFCs will also keep a vigil on the policemen deployed in pickets, community police centres, patrolling units and police stations.

Initially, four constables each have been deployed at the Aabpara, Kohsar, Secretariat and Bhara Kahu police stations. The deployment of DFCs is part of the newly-introduced community policing plan (CPP), a local version of the Japanese Koban.

Koban refers to the smallest organisational unit in the Japanese police system. In addition to the central police stations, the Japanese police work from small buildings located within the community.

The DFCs are directly in contact with the City Zone superintendent of police and share all the information gathered from their respective areas.

These plainclothesmen patrol in their respective areas either on foot or motorcycles.

Under the community policing plan, the limit of Aabpara police has been divided into four sections – Sector G-6/1 and G-6/2, G-6/3; G-6/4, G-7/1 and G-7/2, and G-7/3 and F-7/4. Likewise, the jurisdiction of Kohsar police is divided into Sector F-7/1 and FF-7/4; F-7/2 and F-7/3; F-6/2 and F-6/3, and F-6/1 and F-6/4.

Similarly, the Secretariat police station is divided into Nadra, Rawa, Noorpur and Malpur, while Bhara Kahu police station divided into Madina Town, Kot Hathal, Pind Begwal and Bani Gala.
