During the hearing, the Advocate on Record, Abdul Ghafoor, announced that he is separating himself from the case. "I am withdrawing from the case due to a medical issue," Abdul Ghafoor said. The Court has threatened to cancel the Advocate on Record's license. The prime minister will be summoned if you withdraw from the case, the Supreme Court informed Ghafoor. "The federal government will not be given any special treatment," Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry added. The Additional Advocate stated: “We should be the given the right to appoint a counsel of our choice.” The court also stated that if no one else is representing the government, the attorney general should present the arguments. However, the AG said that the government has not allowed him to present arguments on its behalf. |
