| PESHAWAR, April 16: The women wing of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz staged a protest demonstration here on Saturday against drone attacks in tribal areas and target killing in Karachi.Led by PML-N women wing provincial general secretary MPA Shazia Aurangzeb, the protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US slogans. The protesting women also chanted slogans against government and demanded end to drone attacks in Fata and target killings in Karachi. They held government responsible for killing of people in tribal areas. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Aurangzeb said that drone attacks were carried out with permission of rulers. The government should step down as it failed to come up to expectations of people, she added. She said that innocent tribal people including children, women and elderly men were killed in drone attacks. "On the other hand target killing in Karachi is a live example of government`s failure," she added. The lawmaker said that government was following American policies against the interests of its own people. It was tantamount to treason, she alleged. She said that the policies of Pervez Musharra were still in practice and the nation saw no change in the system despite lapse of three years. "The integrity and sovereignty of the country are at stake owing to wrong policies of the government," Ms Aurangzeb said. She said that blood of innocent people was shed for no fault of them. People were forced to commit suicide as they were unable to feed their children due to price hike and unemployment, she added. —Bureau Report |
