Hunger strike against Bible’s desecration continues

LAHORE, April 14: The token-hunger strike of the Muttahida Masihi Action Committee entered the 7th day on Thursday outside the Punjab Assembly to protest an attempt to allegedly tear a copy of Christians' holy book Bible by the two suspects.

The Christian community condemned the desecration of their holy book at a Cathedral Catholic Church about a week ago in reaction to the act of a so-called priest who had burnt the Holy Quran in the US.

The agitators said although the police had arrested one of the two suspects and registered a case against him, they were protesting for the arrest of the other fleeing man, Waseem Ajmal, the managing director of the Lahore Waste Management Committee.

They also condemned the suspension of some sanitary workers and police action against some others who were protesting against the incident.

Pakistan Masiha Millat Party chief Aslam Sahotra, Shahid Semoil, general councillor Amir Gill, Mushtaq Asi and other members of the Christian community and Muttahida Masihi Action Committee also joined the camp. — Staff Reporter
