| SUKKUR, March 29: A five-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from near his house in Jacobabad on March 5, was recovered on Tuesday. Prithvi Kumar, son of Amrat Lal, was kidnapped when he went to a grocery shop to buy toffees. According to sources in the department, police had arrested a suspect, Gulzar Jagirani, three days ago and during interrogation he confessed to being involved in the kidnapping and informed the police about the area where he had been kept. A heavy contingent of police cordoned the village of Mohabbat Laro, located in the border area of Sindh Balochistan, and asked the kidnappers to surrender. However they fled, leaving Prithvi behind in a hut. After the kidnapping, people, traders and activists had put heavy pressure on the district administration and the police for his recovery. Protest demonstrations were held in Jacobabad from March 6 to 29 and a complete shutter down strike was observed in the city on Tuesday. Due t o the 25-day protest, which is the unprecedented in the history of Jacobabad, police were compelled to take action for the release of the boy from the clutches of kidnappers. |
