Goldsmith shot, injured

PESHAWAR, March 25: A goldsmith was injured when a group of customers opened fire on him at Saddar Road on Friday evening.

An official of West Cantonment police station said that three people exchanged hot words with a goldsmith, Sardar Khan, which resulted in a clash. He said that the customers opened fire on Mr Khan, who suffered serious bullet wounds.

The official said that the accused Mohammad Fida, Ayub Khan and Mohammad Ismail were arrested soon after the incident.

The firing caused panic among the people in Saddar Bazaar and some traders also downed shutters of their shops.

Later, the shopkeepers gathered at the site of the incident and demanded strict action against the accused. A case has been registered against the accused at the West Cantonment police station.

UNIDENTIFIED BODIES: The mystery about killing of six people could not be resolved and the bodies are still ly ing at the local mortuary.

Two bodies of young people were recovered from a hideout in the limits of Tatara police station on Wednesday and four from Daudzai area on Thursday.

An official of Daudzai police station said that they had informed people of the surrounding villages to identify the bodies, but no one had so far contacted them for the purpose.

He denied presence of militants in Daudzai police station limits.

BODY FOUND:
A bullet-riddled body of an unidentified woman was recovered from a deserted area in Masizo Khwar (dry tributary) in limits of Agha Mir Jani Shah police station on Friday morning.

A police official said that the woman seemed to be around 28 years old.

The official said that following information the police shifted the body to mortuary.
