| LAHORE, March 28: Dozens of Christians demonstrated on Monday outside the Punjab Assembly in protest against an official of the Water and Sanitation Agency for allegedly passing derogatory remarks against the Bible. Led by former federal minister J. Salik and Pakistan Maseeha Millat Party chief Aslam Pervaiz Sahotra, the protesters chanted slogans against official Waseem Ajmal, demanding that the authorities concerned should take action against him. "Some of the Christian leaders had approached Ajmal to give relaxation to the Christian sanitation staff as they were observing fasts those days. But the official, instead of giving them favour, passed insulting remarks against the Bible, claiming that there were no instructions in the Bible for the Christians to observe fasts," Mr Salik quoted the official as having said. He said the Punjab government should order registration of a case against the official under Section 295-A of blasphemy laws. |
