| ISLAMABAD, Feb 24: Pakistan said on Thursday that a US Senate report on water situation in South Asia had substantiated its concerns about the construction by India of dams on western rivers in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. The US Senate report released on Feb 22 said that the dams India was building in held Kashmir would limit supply to Pakistan at crucial moments. Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said: "The (US) report only substantiates Pakistan`s concerns at the building of dams by India on the western rivers in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty." Pakistan has conveyed to New Delhi its concerns on various projects being built by India which Pakistan considers are not in conformity with the terms of the treaty, the spokesperson said. These concerns, she said, needed to be addressed in sincere, forthwith and result-oriented manner.—APP |
