PCSIR introduces “Wonder Meat” for vegetarians

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) has introduced "Wonder Meat" for vegetarians, especially for those who are advised by doctors not to take beef.

Wonder meat is infact a food supplement which is basically made by dry soya beans and it resembles minced meat both in taste and look.

When contacted PCSIR Chairman Dr Shaukat Pervez, he confirmed that wonder meat, a product of PCSIR, is selling like hot cakes in markets, especially in Peshawar.

Giving further details, he said it is cholesterol free and is best for those who cannot take meat especially beef, adding it is much nutritious as it is combination of different vegetables.

Talking to APP the PCSIR Chairman said that the wonder meat is a wonderful diet for the vegetarians as they can enjoy taste of meat while eating vegetables.

He said that the PCSIR is a leading research organization in the country and research carried out by it is helping making development in different fields.

He further said that the Industrial Linkage Programme (ILP) of PCSIR envisages the strengthening of Research and Development(R & D) capability in the areas of food, textile, material science, pharmaceutical and chemicals in its existing Laboratories.

Laboratories and centres in food, textile, material science, and pharmaceutical sectors have been established in different cities, having state-of-art facilities for R&D, testing, analysis certification and evaluation, he added.

"We ensure optimum utilization of indigenous raw material resources for the development of industrial processes".

The PCSIR is boosting human resource development through organized training courses and also grooming manpower for industry and research centers to broaden the science and technology base in the country, he said.
