CHAGAI: Trade activities via Zero-Point trade gate of Pak-Iran border in border town of Taftan were kicked off once again on Saturday after a period of over six months. The Iranian government had closed Zero-Point trade gate on 15th July 2010 after violence erupted in Iranian province of Siestan Balochistan. The closure of the Zero-Point had caused increase in the troubles of people living in the areas along the border on both sides, as shortage of edibles and others items were reported. Following the request of the Pakistani government and keeping in view the sufferings of the people living alongside the border in the two countries, Iranian government directed the border force officials to reopen Zero-Point trade gate on 26th Jan 2011. However, trade activities resumed on Saturday, 29th January as there were holidays in Iran on Thursday and Friday. The people were delighted over reopening of the trade gate and thanked both Governments in this connection. – APP |
