Writing it right

This is with reference to the article Discover the writer in you by Muhammad Omar Iftikhar (YW, January 15, 2011). The article was quite an encouragement for children who have the potential to write but due to lack of confidence or discouragement, they are unable to do so.

I would like to give a word of advice to all those children who send their written piece to any newspaper or magazine. If it doesn't get publish, they should not lose hope but always think positive that there must be some criterion due to which their piece of writing has not been considered worth publishing. One should never lose hope, you will outshine some day among many young writers.

After reading M. Omar Iftikhar's article Discover the writer in you, I was delighted because the tips mentioned in it were very interesting and easy to follow.

Besides, it was an inspiring and stimulating article for all budding writers who want to come forward but do not have the courage to bring out their hidden talents. So make an effort to uncover the writer in you.

Vibrant Saturday mornings

Each Saturday becomes bright when I get the wonderful Young World in my hands. I just love reading it. I am a big fan of the history section. That's why I like the column Time Check by Mubarak Ali the most.

Besides this, I like all the other articles and stories that always have something different every week. It is my request to the YW team to include proverbs in every issue.

I have never written any email to any newspaper or magazine. However, this is my first email to my favourite magazine — Young World. This magazine is considered to be a perfect reading material even in our school.

We read it in our school library and appreciate the efforts made in bringing out this magazine with various interesting stories and articles every week.

No ads please!

I am a regular reader of Young World and I really like it because it improves my vocabulary and I get a lot of information. My request to the YW team is to please reduce the number of advertisements and increase the number of pages. This way, we will get a lot of good articles and stories to read.

Secrets

This is with reference to the story Secrets by Sabihey Namazi (YW, January 8, 2011). The story had a really good moral of not keeping secrets from your parents or elders. My suggestion to the readers is that they should start writing stories like this because it is a good way to learn a lesson and avoid bad habits that could hurt your parents or elders.

Also, I would like to request the YW team to include riddles, jokes, comics and mazes in the magazine and some gossip about famous celebrities would definitely be a treat.

Winter yummies

This is with reference to the article Winter yummies by Noor-ul-ain Hanif (YW, January 15, 2011). I really liked the article because it covered almost all the winter treats that people are crazy about.

In our part of the world we have long summers and short winters so people have to wait for this season to enjoy the mouth-watering food and feel the cold breeze.

The day I got glasses

This is with reference to the article The day I got glasses by Ahsan Muhammad (YW, January 15, 2011). It is true that out of embarrassment many people around us do not wear spectacles, no matter how hard it becomes for them to see things clearly. This results in more adverse effects on their eyesight. People who wear specs should not take it as an embarrassing thing as soon nobody notices it and it is completely okay with everyone around. It is only the person wearing specs who becomes too conscious and feels others to be staring at his/her glasses. So please be confident and don't underestimate yourself when wearing spectacles.
