Govt purchases 31 boats

PESHAWAR, April 13: The provincial government has approved procurement of 31 boats and 73 outboard motors (OBMs) so that rescue operation during any future emergency in flood prone areas can be effectively dealt with.

Directives have been issued for release of Rs20 million to PDMA for this purpose, says a handout. It was stated that the approval was given by Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti here on Wednesday.

It was added that the rescuers of both the provincial government and army were short of boats for rescue operations during the last year's floods.

PDMA purchased 25 boats and three OBMs on emergency basis that increased usable stock to 69 boats and 47 OBMs. —Bureau Report
