Ombudsmen forum launched

ISLAMABAD, April 16: The ten ombudsmen of the country launched Forum of Pakistan Ombudsmen (FPO) here on Saturday with a view to improving coordination and capacity building to provide quality services to the masses.

The forum was launched at the farewell reception given in honour of outgoing Federal Ombudsman Javed Sadiq Malik and Insurance Ombudsman Syed Ali Aslam Jafri.

Dr Muhammad Shoaib Suddle, Federal Tax Ombudsman would be the president of the forum while vice president slot would be manned by Khalid Mahmood, Punjab Ombudsman. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsman Badshah Gul Wazir would be the secretary and Banking Mohtasib Mansur-ur-Rehman Khan would hold the position of the FPO treasurer.

The forum also resolved to take several new initiatives to make the ombudsmen services more transparent and effective.

It has also been decided that Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) would be made a vibrant org anisation.

The forum has been set up on the pattern of Asian Ombudsmen Association (AOA), International Ombudsmen Association (IOA), US Ombudsmen Association (USOA) and European Ombudsmen Association (UOA). The objective to establish the forum is to improve coordination among the ten ombudsmen of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for capacity building and quality services.

The participants of the farewell reception lauded the services of Federal Ombudsman Javed Sadiq Malik and Insurance Ombudsman Syed Ali Aslam Jafri and termed them guiding stars for their successors with regard to providing speedy justice to the masses.
